A 9-hole medley competition on the Green Course is held every Thursday morning, unless otherwise notified. Play alternates week to week between the front and back 9’s and tee times can be booked on-line as for other club competitions. The competition is open to all MCC members and visitors with a Golf Australia handicap. The course is also available to members for social games, to green fee players and juniors.
On the Green Course, men and women use the same teeing positions but individual holes are indexed according to gender.
On most holes the teeing position for the Green Course is identified by a green disk set into the surface of the fairway. To assist in locating the disk, a post with a green top has been placed at the side of the fairway adjacent to the disk. If no above ground green daily markers are in place, tee off within 2 club lengths of the green disk but no nearer the hole. Where artificial teeing mats are in place, players must use the mat.
Occasionally, the regular Green Course Thursday competition is changed from 9 to 18 holes. The dates are listed in the golfing calendar and 18 holes rather than 9 appears on the tee time booking sheet
Nine Hole Championships
A Green Course 9 Hole Championship is held in May each year for the best score over two rounds for the Sandra Fenwick (women) and Ron Shepherd (men) trophies. The Championship is played over consecutive Thursdays with the 1st round on the front 9 and the 2nd round on the back 9. Only members who have played in at least 4 Thursday competitions in the previous 4 months (1st January-30th April) are eligible for the Championship, although players who are not eligible are welcome to play in the daily competition.
ACT Short Course Open Championship
Each year, MCC hosts the ACT Short Course Open Championship. This is a stroke event over 18 holes and is open to all members and visitors with a Golf Australia handicap. For all open competitions, entries must be made on-line via the Club website.
